Olivia Newton-John talks medical marijuana at cancer conference

She has been open and honest about using medical marijuana following her diagnosis with stage-four breast cancer.

And actress Olivia Newton-John spoke about her health battle during an appearance at a cancer research conference  in Melbourne on Monday.

The Grease actress, 70, was in discussion with Professor Grant McArthur at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Research Conference.

Olivia looked radiant in a red pantsuit while discussing her cancer treatment in front of hundreds of guests, including her husband John Easterling.

The Hollywood legend, who founded the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre, completed her sophisticated look with a pair of flat black shoes.

On the conference's Twitter page, Olivia was quoted as saying: 'The ultimate goal is to heal people from cancer. We are lucky with our ability to access great treatments in Australia.'

The Xanadu star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. She had previously battled the disease twice, in 1992 and 2013.

Olivia has made no secret of the fact she  uses medical marijuana to deal with pain and improve her quality of life while undergoing other treatments.

She previously attended the 2019 Cannabis Science Conference in Portland.

With her daughter Chloe Lattanzi in the audience, Olivia explained how she weaned herself off morphine by using cannabis grown by her husband.

'I weaned myself off morphine with cannabis, which I want everyone to know,' she said.

'I had a fractured sacrum at the time, too, and I was determined not to become addicted

'When I started taking

Olivia was introduced to herbal medicine by her husband John, who is the founder of the Amazon Herb Company.

'Olivia's cancer markers are moving in the right direction,' John previously said.

'This is the third recurrence of stage-four metastatic breast cancer and this is not normally what you see happen at this stage.'
