Talking to one of my collegues who is a registered trademarks attorney yesterday and he shed a bit of light on company structures.
If a company has hundreds of millions of dollars worth of IP they may decide to spin off the parts of the business so that if the product (made by suda for example) gets sued for some reason, the valuable IP of ZLD remains safe and untouchable.
Personally I think anytime ZLD announces a partnership, licencing deal or manufacturing deal with a 3rd party we should take note and probably invest in those companies for the quick buck.
