That is not correct. Not only brokers do Xtrades.
If it happens for instance that you're selling through your online service provider, and the buyer of your shares use the same online service provider, that trade is considered, and distinguished/marked as a Xtrade in the ordinary day trades/sales, even though the online service provider had nothing to do with it in the first place, and the action was started and performed by two of it's own clients.
