KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- A Government ruling on Lynas Corporation’s removal of water leach purification (WLP) residue and new conditions by the Atomic Energy Licensing Board in order for licence-renewal will be known by mid-August, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) deputy minister, Isnaraissah Munirah Majlis, said the rare earth mining company’s appeal was heard on June 28 but “we still need more input before a decision is made”.

REMOVAL of WLP means that an on-site PDF is not an option being considered.

We already know that Australia won’t take back the WLP so the only alternatives are a) condisoil or b) an off-site PDF.

NEW conditions could be the conditions alluded to by the PM (cracking in Australia and spreading the WLP around e.g condisoil). However, they could also mean additional conditions. Lynas may have some legal leverage to resist unreasonable conditions.

It seems to confirm that Yeo has fallen into line with the PM, but we will have to wait a bit longer.
