I am a holder of bcc and really hope that Zoleo will be successful. Having said that, I do have doubts about the product. I would really appreciate if others can enlight me. The followings are my concerns.
One, $349 is not exactly cheap. There are products similarly priced. As an example, look at Garmin 010-01879-01 InReach Mini GPS Handhelds from Amazon Australia for $463. It uses the Iridium as well. There is also a much cheaper alternative such as SPOT Gen3 for only $184. From the product description, they all seem to function the same way.
Two, similar products have a screen on them and do have better water resistance. Zoleo looks much too lacking in comparison.
Three, from the presentation we can look at historical number of sales by bcc. The company sold 45,000 unit Iridium Go! since 2014, so average of 9,000 per year. Thuraya WE only sold 3,000 unit this year. To achieve 50,000 sales for Zoleo seem to be very difficult. Wouldn't it be more realistic to aim for 10,000 units?
I really hope that I am proven wrong. I have been a holder for more than 3 years and this share has frustrated me to no end.
