A chart can prepare a trader for future possibilities..
eg....there was a gap at 98.5 that was filled today. Unfortunately I was too slow to take advantage of an easy 10% trade (96-105).
As another example,I was able to take a 10% trade yesterday in LYC (103.5-114)only because of what the chart had prepared me for....Gap trading is a big part of my trading strategy.
Different strokes for different strokes and all that....
