you are probably correct on the bribe --- it's called politics.
Whilst one may think it odorous - it's been happening since before we came down from the trees.
What this displays is that Turnbull is better at it than Abbott could ever be --
I don't believe that Turnbull is a great leader - but, there is no doubt at all that one would be better off with a Prime Minister who is politically able than unable.
For heavens sake - Tony Abbott couldn't even control someone like Clive Palmer - who should have been a walkover for a Grade 1 politician.
Whatever we paint Turnbull with --------- this is a political move and shows asset - not liability.
Whether it's a good move for the Nation or not - is a different kettle of fish -------- bit like Howards baby bonus ------ great move politically - but, doubtful value at best for the Nation.
