Bandidos Bikies Besiege Gold Coast Police Station
A group of 50 Bandidos bikies besieged a police station on the Gold Coast last night before before police reinforcements were called in to send the bikies packing.
The bikies turned up in force at the police station in a show of support for club mates who had been arrested earlier after a brawl in a popular restaurant strip
Four police offices and three bikies were injured in the fray outside the Southport Polce Station in Scarborough Street.
Police ended up charging 18 people with offences including public nuisance, assault, obstructing police, assaulting police, disorderly conduct in licensed premises and an unrelated stealing matter.
Police from Logan and specialist units from Brisbane were also called in to help the Gold Coast police offices.
The drama started at the popular Surf Parade restaurant strip in Broadbeach when about 20 bikies walked into Aura restaurant about 8.30pm and demanded that one of the diners to go outside.
Once outside the restaurant a brawl erupted. Terrified diners called police as punches flew.
Police quickly arrived on the scene and detained six people from the group.
Four men were arrested and taken to the Southport Watchhouse while the other two were released.
The Bandidos then gathered reinforcements and converged on Southport.
Three bikies had to be taken to Gold Coast Hospital for treatment for injuries after the Southport incident.
The four injured police officers, all men, did not require medical treatment.
Police have today implemented a range of strategies including an increased presence on the Gold Coast.
This was the final nail in the coffin, if you want this sort of behaviour back, vote Labor....
