"I'm going to set up my own virtual currency, so I am looking for investors. My currency will have novel twist ... it will be backed by a tangible asset stored in a vault (my garage). I have christened my currency the PIPI, this is one pipi shell valued at a nominal us$1 each, oyster shells will have a value of $5, abalone shells $20 and tortoise shells $100 each. I promise I will only increase the volume in circulation by whatever I find by beachcombing on weekends!"
@grindstone cowboy ,
Your debut and only post on this subject resonates with my own novice understanding of what's happening in this space.
And the way you articulated it also made me laugh out loud a bit.
I don't mind saying I have not been a beneficiary of the Great Crypto-Juggernaut.
Maybe I'm just a bit of an investing dinosaur.
Maybe hundreds of billions of dollars of "value" can actually be synthesised from nowhere in the space of a just a few months.
Maybe this time it is different.
(But I somehow doubt it.)
