    Just correcting the figures for the UK. It's 1,222sq/km[472sq/m] needed to power the UK.

    I prefer the wave system where an underwater float is tethered to the sea bed and the vertical movement, as the wave pulse passes, translates into energy. It's out of sight, below passing boats and poses no danger to marine life.
    That could be the system being used off Garden Island, WA?

    That would be useless for tidal power of course.
