    This is why there is bipartisan support for migration. Australians aren't having enough children to keep the population afloat, and our economies are based on constant growth. A contraction in population growth is an economic contraction. The Government is spending a lot of money, predominately on health and social security/welfare. These costs are increasing because people are living longer and facing various health crises. One might laugh at the whole "Sydney becoming a city of 20 million people", which is an exaggeration, however the ABS has the NSW population sitting between 12 and 14 million by 2066. It's currently at 7.5 million.
