Who is this world's elite, surely not the scientific community? Some may lack insight into spiritual concepts but we are talking about empirical evidence. Did Creation occur with the ecosystem and creatures fully formed in an instant or did Creation occur as a process based on the principles of evolution? It's a very simple question.
Who are you to judge who is honest-hearted?
Please don't tell me you're tangling some notion about the devil or satan entering into the reasoning of the scientific community. Such beliefs are for frightened children and are beneath the dignity of anybody who professes a belief in God.

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
