We all agree that Turnbull should go before any suggestion of another election is discussed, the rise of the independents is ominous and a death knell for the Liberals especially.
Cory Bernardi does not appear to want the Liberal/National party to implode but is maybe trying to show what will happen unless the conservatives wake up to themselves within the next 36 hours
Is it a bluff ? it doesn't matter because if it's not him it will be the rise of someone else, if he does split and take one or two others the party loses power and Labor would just happily form government by default
At that stage the Conservatives would have no option but to kick Turnbull out and put Abbott in with a coalition of independents to get sufficient numbers to rule
It is rare for any politician to resign when it is time, they usually have to be dragged out with their delusions of grandeur and screaming out that they are the chosen one
