The proper role of democratically elected government is not only to foster opportunity, creativity and innovation by supporting aspiration and innovation; it's also to ensure a 'fair go' for the disadvantaged, the vulnerable and the poor.

Gough Whitlam was NOT about embedding privilege in society. He was about equal opportunity and a fair go for all. That did NOT extend to the further concentration of material wealth into ever fewer hands, as proposed by Tony Abbott's rolled gold version of a PPL.
