You guys would be proud of me

Travelling home late from the airport tonight I stopped to fill my car.

I paid the cashier and turned to walk out, and there he was.

Being the forward but polite fellow I am when I got next to him I stopped.

I leaned in just a fraction and with a twinke in my eyes and a hint of a smile I said quietly and conspiratorially to him "interesting times".

He immediately smiled and with a twinkle in his eyes said in agreement "interesting times".

I offered my hand and we shook hands firmly, looking each other in the eye and I moved on.

Who did I meet?

Hint, it wasn't donald Trump.
