GOVERNOR BROOME – CONFIRMATION OF SOUTH EAST RESULTS

ASX Announcement 10 September 2019

Astro Resources NL (ARO or the Company) advises that the results have now been received for the analytical and mineralogical examination of twelve composite heavy mineral concentrates from the Governor Broome South East Mineralisation. The results confirm the preliminary assessment that the mineralisation is uneconomic.

A breakdown of the heavy mineral assemblages by unit is given in the Table 1 as follows:

Table 1 Valuable Heavy Minerals by Unit

The numbers in the table are the percentages of valuable heavy mineral (VHM) within the total heavy mineral (THM) content of the wireframed mineralisation in each unit. The wireframes included mineralisation at >2% THM. The mineralogy sequence from the surface down is as follows:

  • Barren Warren Sands;
  • Mineralised Warren Sands
  • Transition Zone;
  • Beenup Beds; and
  • Bennup Beds with high slimes.

Although the heavy mineral assemblage within the Warren Sands mineralisation could be economically acceptable, the overall grade of the modelled mineralisation is low, at 2.67% THM and the thickness of barren sand above the mineralised sand is high, with a Waste to Mineralised Sand ratio of >4:1. As such, there is insufficient valuable mineralisation within the Warren Sands in the recently drilled area to be reported as a Mineral Resource.

The assemblage within the lower units is uneconomic and, overall, the South East area of the Governor Broome Project has been shown to not contain potentially economic heavy mineral mineralisation.

The Company continues to work with its consultant on the economics of the Governor Broome Sands and further details will be made available once available.
