    Hi coppashaft,
Yes I guess every person has its own interpretation of what constitute tanking.

To me "tanking" is: giving up a match entirely, someone who is mentally defeated by the opponent and no will to keep on fighting till the end.
We don't know what Kyrgios mindset really was at the time... sure he was pissed off.. maybe he's action when leaving "semi-aces" was he's way of dealing with a pressure cooker situation where he decided... stuff this... I'll let the game go by, relax and come out of the corner fighting...
I recall many a game where I've seen players in these Grand Slam events who, due to the situation of the match, hardly made any attempt to return an opponents serve in a particular game or in fact trying to put up a fight when the opponent served, because he/she'd rather preserve strength for his/her next crucial service game. Do we call this tanking or strategy?? (not that I'm saying Kyrgios' action was startegy.. not at all)
Tanking is giving up totally. The Kyrgios conduct was more a way of showing discontent at the situation. He came over it and fought till the last point.

    IMO.. Regards
