Just because someone is "smart" doesn't mean they're valuable or effective board members. Of the guys you have highlighted, Borman is the only one I am disappointed about and he left for personal reasons.
Perhaps instead of looking at who has left, it might be more meaningful to observe who hasn't left...and that might provide you with the answer to your question.
