If it is any comfort just remember that you are not alone! My CommSec account is currently showing SPL at 83% of total holdings. Ridiculous! But it has got there by regular purchasing, and very little selling. I have sold down CBA, AMP, RIO and TLS to fund SPL purchases, thereby losing my dividend income. But I don't regret it. Who wants to be part of AMP right now? Or CBA?
Unlike you I don't view this investment as one to 'make a killing'. When the SP finally reaches it's true worth (or beyond!) I will slowly sell off some stock. I hope that by then the wonderful work they are doing in medicine will be fully recognised and commercialised.
