    I agree with your eye burning poorly written essay. However the reality is most cannot retire early as they do not have enough money. Your working life was obviously from the 1980s-2000s which saw the worst greatest inflation boom, where I’d argue it was easier to make it through leverage and speculation. Times have changed with most working professionals I know simply focused on paying their mortgage off in 20 instead of 30 years. Crippling debt has changed the world.

    Notwithstanding I’ll be retiring early, in my 40s like you. Needing more and more is simply greed. Like those directors you mentioned you won’t be saying ‘I wish I worked another 10-20 years of 60-100 hour weeks for possessions I don’t need’. That being said money buys happiness in my opinion. But their is no real difference from a net worth of $5m or $10m besides a bigger house and boat.
