Actually, Aussie Joe, I'm not at all sure you have any understanding of "vanilla" margin lending at all. I wonder what LVR you are quoting in your example? If you are talking an LVR of 75%, the total value of your hypothetical portfolio would be $400K. That is, you have 100K equity and they are lending on an LVR of 75%, they take one 3/4 of the loan or 300K.

For your quoted example, you own 100K, they lend you 75K, your total portfolio is 175K, the LVR is around 43%. But I'm sure that's what you meant.
