proves my point that using a simple definition combined with a view of the way american politics ie lobbyists etc justifies the lack of a democracy.
My view is that while all that occurs and is accepted and that big business and money plays a big role in determining funding etc, nevertheless, the people elect their representives, there are systems in place to determine and punish abuse of the system and governor of Illionis is a prime example of a democracy at work.
And being unable to provide an example of a so called good democracy proves my point.
i would prefer this somewhat 'bad' democacy to the ones in africa and the middle east where democracy comes out o a gun.
and as a side issue Hamas while 'democratically' elected, do not have any oppenents as they killed them or sent them to the west bank
