It depends on jurisdiction. China does not seem to want Australia's minerals and other things e.g. wine & barley, unless it is iron ore, and that only until Vale/Brasil is back producing at historical levels. It might be better to supply smaller markets like Japan & Europe.
I understand your conservatism but JM seems to want to get to concrete ASAP hence my view. He has done a lot of work on it prior to the recent trials which themselves are showing positive results.
Anyway, we will know soon enough but you could ask him.
