He worked for Goldfields for 7 years from 2009 – 2016 with 5 years of that he was exploration manager at St Ives gold mine where he was part of a team that explored a 1,200km2 lease package. Where the 1.3Moz Invincible deposit was found which took 3 years from the discovery hole to the first deliveries to the mill.

Then he was regional exploration manager for Evolution mining from 2016 – 2018 where a new discovery at the Mungari operations was found on their 1000km2 lease.

His most recent role before taking the CEO job at Viking was exploration manager for Gold Road resources from 2018 – 2020 where he was part of a team to discover new ore bodies and define 300koz of indicated resources. Also converted 1.3moz from inferred to indicated resource at the Gyurere gold mine.

Looking at his prior experience he had to find resources on much larger leases, so this should be easier work for him exploring 28km2 of land holdings.

I heard that Julian didn’t take the job until he looked through the historical data and did a site visit, so you know he’s not just doing it for a pay cheque also that he got other offers from much bigger companies.

I also heard he was over looked for the CEO job at Gold Road, what better way to prove he is capable for a job like that in the future, then proving up a resource at a smaller company with less staff and money on hand.

His salary for a CEO is also quite modest at $225,000 per annum most CEO’s would try and demand more 400k+ where he will make his money is with the 4 million performance shares.
