Yes, intraday shorts are bought back the same day. However, its much easier to move shares down than up, due to human psychology. When combined with an active short and distort campaign, the impact can be dramatic.
Ask yourself this. If ADN was tanking under its own steam, and the shorters are just hitching a ride, why are so many of them investing hours trolling holders? And why do they hit in waves? The answer is obvious.
