Thank goodness, very glad to hear, absolutely couldn’t help myself to reply - take care of you.
Shane Warner’s death does still seem a bit surreal.
I think it is important to call out the very real risks from covid- 19 to date , especially pre- omicron but omicron is also very dangerous in an under- vaccinated population.
The virus itself is still very risky to contract & you don’t want it to linger on. Has been difficult to avoid now for many , but much more so if ones immune system is completely niave to it. Millions of people have enduring illness from earlier covid waves, pre-omicron— which has only been here for 3 months. Not benign anyway and is best to be vaccinated with 3 doses & manage health .
Anyway - onwards.
Only with vaccines, & we have pretty good vaccines (+maybe the dream of a vaccine to cover all possible variants) , & good public health will we overcome this virus really.
In Oz we have been insulated from earlier waves, and gained high degree of advantage with good vaccines. A reprieve nearterm, although it’s not over and we must be ongoing responsible as we as humans spread what is a very virulent virus with a relatively high degree of mutation ability.
Don’t give it unhindered scope to run rampant - over half the world population now immunised with vaccines now.
Mainly a reply to @Holdmybeer. Touché .
Hilarious , although I bet you are glad you are not up here in what was flood territory to the coast.
My driveway is an adventure and a few issues from major rain, ( had probably more than the Eyre peninsulas annual rainfall last week) and can’t get tradesmen, but they need to attend to people who been really impacted and need urgent help. Good fun just putting the car into low gear and then ‘going for it’ to get out down onto the road as well as to get back up into home on return. Really no issue.
@Dash in NNSW coastal vicinity - my gf from uni had no contact with her mum for 48hrs after losing contact with her when waters were rising fast out of nowhere and to her door earlier this week . Telephone communications were knocked out but she was thankfully actually evacuated safely and even her house is alright .
People didnt have any means to contact their families to say they were safe- no Internet , no phone for majority.
So true that losing internet be a major impingement.
No wonder you went surfing.
All the more imperative for good solutions - carbon capture, building and construction must be environmentally friendly, concrete opportunities - ADN now.
It has taken decades to get to this point but at last this very valuable resource at Poochera is going to commence to be mined this year.
