    The word "merged it with WPL" is misinformed as merged entity becomes one and BHP intentionally used this word to confuse naïve investors. When two entity merge they both have same chairman and probably shares get merged and new entity shares are issued to shareholders and that is not the case in what BHP did with their divestment.

    so basically BHP sold off OIL & GAS business but instead of taking all cash they took shares which is even worst as some insto and or retail holders who already has WPL shares has no choice but to offload to reduce their higher exposure to WPL post divestment in my opinion.
