Current US economic data coming in a bit better than expected, but leading data is pointing towards recession still. China is far from out of the woods as well. China consumption is what makes or breaks copper. Most likely explanation for copper doing better than expected is (1) relatively low warehouse inventories and (2) sizable covering of short futures positions.
