In regards to South Australia's Dept of Mines and Energy, I have been told by someone whose sole job it is to file reports to them on behalf of smaller exploration companies, that DME is currently understaffed.

The situation has been exacerbated by a shortage in their IT department, plus a new set of regulations that came into being two years ago that also caused a backlog of work to build up. Some of the less important paperwork, ie renewal of exploration licenses, is two years behind.

I'm certain that something as important as a PEPR for mining is at the front of that queue - but it is a very long queue.
