EDIT to my previous post (damn HC's crappy and far too short edit window)
I figured out the Short selling dilution issue, so don't worry about that (had a dumb moment, forgive me). But this still leaves the issue of how Gina is getting all these shares for $3 or less. So the short sellers will have to take the risk, and they have to buy back all the shares they sold short at higher than $3 if Gina makes a counter offer.
The only way the short sellers win here is if there is no counter offer and ALB bails, temporarily crashing the price and allowing the Shorts to cover safely. It all sounds super risky and I'm not sure this move is worth the trouble for them. Who is really selling to Gina atm? It doesn't make much sense to me right now.
