Being real you have moved the conversation to PBS which is irrelevant- if you don't understand why I'll do a quick summary. PBS relates to approved drugs ( by TGA and separate from them) and is a process by which economic, social etc benefit is used in determining if a treatment, drug, device should be subsidised by the govt for Australians . The biggest delays in the process is the presentation of the supposed benefit, alternatives and volume cost weighted against ultimate benefit all considering budget and Australias small market / population.. There is massive horse trading on pricing that goes on and then there is the rulings on who has access under what conditions all done under consultation with experts in industry and hospital specialists etc. Again not a perfect system and not a conspiracy.
