I suspect the fair majority of retail investors, in the first instance, would use stock forums to gauge sentiment for a particular stock or sector of interest. HotCopper, being the biggest stock forum in Australia, is potentially the most influential. Reading the commentary you post for the company you’ve invested in, SPL, would you bother further investigating? I suspect you would not. You would move on to another stock where the sentiment is much more positive. At that point then you’d do your due diligence and further research to make an informed investment decision etc. I worry that with the sustained negativity for so long now, even if things turn around and we start making serious dollars the sp won’t recover because historic negative sentiment potentially becomes ingrained. Do you think my concerns are unfounded. Serious reply please, not just a ‘oh that old chest nut’ blow off.
