From my conversations PL6 is the end point. Beyond that the emphasis will be to find a partner or get taken out. Big tech spend tens of billions on R&D each year. Microsoft spent US40bn in RnD between 2011-2014. Staggering sums. No wonder they suck up all the PhD's from Harvard and MIT. Continuing testing the 20nm cells in-house could be very enticing for a number of big techs as they have the funding and infrastructure.
