Yours is the first post I saw that referenced behaviour. I understand from friends that bad behaviour and failed discipline is a huge problem in many schools. I know of one case where nothing worked to control the behaviour of one primary school pupil, who is now in some correctional institution. My wife was a teacher all her working life, either at a private school or TAFE college. I was also a part time TAFE teacher for about ten years, never had any problems and loved the work. And there was a lot of preparation of.printed notes and overhead slides. When I think back to my own schooldays in the 1950s I am amazed that my hands still function with the number of canings they took. It must have worked though because I took school seriously in the later years. .

@Parsifal won't like me pointing this out but the school decline is highly corelated with removal of caning, introduction of participation ribbons and general feminisation of schooling. Consequences matter.... the removal of them has consequences which we are all seeing.
