The JV idea has been kicking around for quite some time- see previous company presentations and road shows. Some good discussion going on here.
The beating this stock is copping is remenicent of the PFS release in 2007.
I completely understand everyone's disappointment here, i too expected to see $2.50 by end of year, but at the same time I think management would be negligent if they didn't keep a wide view and explore different avenues for the complex task of processing at this stage.
Like many wiser posters than me have pointed out here, the road is hard and long. If they get the process wrong and build the plant, it could turn out disastrous. We've all seen brand new, useless plants sold off for a tiny fraction of their original cost. BHP- HBI Plant, QOL- vanadium plant, etc, etc... The point is, they were not rare earth processing plants custom designed and built for a unique ore body. For all those with the technical knowhow, feel free to jump on me here if what i'm saying is not right. I continue to seek to understand the road ahead.
With regards to the CR, it had to be announced at some stage. You can't add 9-12 months to a study program at no cost. PR could have put a shinier spin on it, but at the end of the day it was never gonna sound good.
