Nice post and excellent research. In answer to you last question I guess that is where the parent company Lohnro Africa comes in. I'm not sure about looking after the locals but I'm sure LOM will employ a few. Of course previously there was something like 60,000 people mining the alluvials which I guess shares it around better than now but - it doesn't work like that in the modern world.

I know working conditions are well regulated for example they can't work weekends - and I think they can only work 8 hours a day.
