That is like saying - If you lose $100 . You have not really lost it until you go to spend it .

Sure you might well find it again.


But while it is lost, IT IS LOST !
You can not be sure you will even find it again.

You need to see concrete sighs that it might be possible to regain the lost $100. eg Some good leads. To even entertain spending more time and $$$ looking..

You can not say I was never going to spend the $100 anyway.
So I can never have lost it. Or can ever even lose it.
