BHPP are looking for an UDW rig, so the only one of those rigs that may be suitable is the GSF Explorer. However, BHPP are looking for a rig with a certain level of specialised well control equipment for safety reasons, and only BHPP can say whether the Explorer meets these standards.

According to fleet status reports, she was out of work for 92 days in Q4 2012, and 19 days in Q1 2013. The Dec 2012 fleet status report indicated she was undergoing extensive well control equipment overhaul.

If she's up to standards, it seems a little odd that she's been sitting idle/ready stacked since late January given the call for UDW rigs...the reason BHPP got the SC55 extension in the first place.

In Feb 2013 (14 Feb updated fleet status report) Transocean had this comment re third party certing of well control equipment.

As a result of the requirement for third party certification of well control equipment on rigs operating in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, and potential future requirements imposed by our customers, other regulators, and industry standards, Transocean preemptively embarked on a well control equipment certification program in 2010. We have acquired third party certification of well control equipment on 41 of our 64 active floaters, including 24 of 27 of our ultra deepwater rigs.


The other 2 rigs you listed are classed as deep water, and although may be satisfactory to drill Cinco, we must remember BHPP probably want to use the rig for other wells elsewhere, say like the campaign they haven't finished in Malaysia with partner Petronas, and so may be looking for a longer term contract, quite possibly a number of years.
