Massive sulphides intersected at Denny Bore
Niagara activities
Niagara Mining Ltd has announced that diamond drill hole NMD0004 at Denny Bore has intersected massive sulphides.
NMD0004 is located approximately 10km south of the Mt Windarra Nickel Mine and the intersection is immediately updip from WED4A which intersected 17.5% nickel.
The sulphide intersection in NMD0004 is also expected to be nickeliferous and is showing a distinct thickening in the updip position relative to the previous hole (WED4A) drilled by the company.
Douglas Daws, the company’s executive chairman, said that DHTEM is being used effectively to vector into the source of the sulphide mineralisation and drilling will continue to target this position by further wedge holes from NMD0004 and surface hole positions.
The intersection of the sulphides in NMD0004 confirms the effectiveness of modern day exploration methods and tools to locate massive nickel sulphide mineralisation which was previously very difficult to track using only the deep diamond drilling techniques available in the late 1970’s.
The massive nickel sulphides in NMD0004 are separated from WED4A by about 80m and are at a depth of 666m downhole. Further DHTEM is to be undertaken in this new parent hole and it is anticipated this will enable the company to track mineralisation further updip, hopefully leading to the location of a sizable zone which could be profitably mined.
Drilling of NMD0004 is continuing and will test the basal contact for the source of the mineralisation. Cutting and sampling of the core is underway and samples will be dispatched to the laboratory for assay. Assay results will be released as and when they are obtained by the company from the laboratory.
