I'm interested in the range of beliefs among those with a higher level of formal education with regards to technical analysis.

I would be surprised if a PhD physicist or mathematician took numerology in any guise seriously at all, for example. You never know, though -- I'm always being surprised about these sorts of things.

I have my beliefs which I will gladly share in respectful discussion, but I don't feel compelled to ram them down people's throats. It is not my intention to be confrontational or to put people down for believing particular things, even if I couldn't possibly take them seriously. Rather, I'm genuinely interested in the diversity of world-views and beliefs.

I've already disclosed that my assessment of technical analysis is that it is about 95% sheer nonsense -- but I recognise that's my opinion, and I find it interesting that people who I would have expected to have been exposed to the same sort of educational experiences as myself may have come to strongly differing conclusions.

So if you have a higher degree in an analytical subject or in the physical sciences, and you think the nonsense index for technical analysis is significantly less than 95%, please indulge me and tell me a little about how you see things. :-)

BTW, I agree with the proposition that successful trading does not require a high level of formal education. Commonsense, a level head, and emotional discipline are much more important.
