Yes that's a possibility, although, unlike e.g. taking insulin for diabetes, you don't keep taking Pentosan whenever your knee plays up, so a supervised course of three injections over a six week period administered by your friendly local GP would probably be the best way to go. Also Pentosan is administered sub-cutaneously (into the fatty layer under your skin), so that it's absorbed more slowly than an intravenous, or intra-muscular injection, and sub-cut injecting is a very routine thing.

Just as an FYI - a friend in the USA told me that not only is the FDA looking at this, but also the DEA, as over prescription of opioids, rather than illegal manufacture, is the main source of the addiction 'epidemic' that they're facing over there.
