Ill throw in my 1.2c worth as well as someone that never traded it, just my opinion. I don't think it is a total aberration TA wise, when it comes to spec stocks you see many stranger looking creatures. Of course stocks like NVO that are a bit pretty iliquid are prone to manipulation tactics, as small movements = large returns, so you do get these moves that are seemingly out of nowhere.
So, Sep 3rd saw a second test of .7c that held, the day after saw some strong buying and a bullish close. It then spent a week around 1c with absolutely no supply showing itself. Was only ever going to need a little bit of action to kick things off and draws the attention of some traders via scans or watch-lists.
It's subsequent failure to break 1.3c was not a surprise, hitting resistance it failed to break before. The volume increase was large, around 4x average volume... But you would find probably 50 odd stocks with a similar or larger relative volume jump on any given day.
