Just starting this thread on the latest speculation from analysts about Rio Tinto co-investing with Newcrest for the expansion of Telfer in order to process Winu ore.
Rio’s 530 million tonne low grade copper/gold project is nearby and analysts speculate if there is a chance Rio will co-invest with Newcrest in an expansion of facilities at Telfer/Havieron to lower the start-up costs for Winu.
It might just be a rumour at this stage, but if anything changes over time or if anyone finds out more info, please share and post
