LAU uses Pacific National to haul its railable containers on the national standard gauge network.

Pleasing to report that the first westbound train to use the reopened Trans Australia railway is departing West Kalgoorlie Yard at about 2100- AEDT (1800 WST), about 645 kilometres east of Perth by rail. It should be in Perth by midday tomorrow if not before.

The next PN westbound originated at Dynon, Melbourne has just passed Bookaloo (northwest of Port Augusta) so in about 23 hours it should be in Kalgoorlie, WA and maybe a further 12 after that in Perth.

Another PN intermodal originated in Sydney and is about to pass Coonamia (near Port Pirie, SA) so by the time it stops in major railway centre Port Augusta for a while, it''ll be a few hours behind the one above.

There's one other PN intermodal sitting in the Sydney rail yards near Chullora that will probably depart tonight.

There may be a couple of other trains so my list is not exhaustive.

Some of these trains if not all will have LAU containers as part of the loading.

All being well (touch wood), by Friday the Trans Australia Railway from Port Augusta across the Nullarbor to Cook, SA and Kalgoorlie, WA should be even busier but supermarkets like WOW have suggested it will take until 'late March' to fully restock its 107 supermarkets in the West. That seems pessimistic but it knows far more than most of us.
