I don't think shorter buybacks are going to have much difference, admittedly. Only 11 million outstanding as of Monday. I suspect the funds have been selling over the past month and possibly some shorts closing since yesterday's announcement. In any case, at least there'll be much less scope for manipulating the SP now.
