Yes, it's curious. But at the end of the day, short positions have only increased by 9 million shares (or under $500,000) over the past two months, so it's not a huge increase. The rise in short holdings has also been fairly gradual, which to me suggests a roll of the dice or a hedge rather than inside intel. As Roy suggests, I think there's probably someone out there gambling on the need for a capital raise before any debt funding or grant money is received.
