It is my understanding that the lithium reserves of Wodgina (MinRes) is 169 million tonnes at 1.15% and they are able to mine this material and concentrate it up to 6% for export.
Prior to building a concentrator they were still making money directly shipping unprocessed ore.
I think you would agree that although still early days, these deposits may already be shaping up as rather similar in terms of grades.
I am personally satisfied about 100 Mt plus size potential, but let’s wait for the next round of assays
I appreciate that one of the juicy intersections at Wildcat are from surface (~50 metres at 1.5% Li20) and that would be open cut, but the deeper material down to 380 metres will clearly be underground mined, if developed in the future.
Even with material that is mined with open cut methodology, the mining is selective with only the better/higher economic grades being processed.
please don’t ignore the strategic benefits of being only 80km away from the worlds biggest bulk export terminal at Port Hedland, particularly comparing with Liontown which is 1.34% Li20, to be underground mined and 680 kms from any port.
please also don’t follow the dialogue of bogan type analysts that keep referring to ‘director special’ holes … the guys running Wildcat are highly credible geologists with a very successful track record in numerous other things. (start by researching the Chairman and Alex Hewlett).
Those 2 very early geophysical holes had to be drilled the way they were to quickly establish whether that area should be a priority location for the first 2 rigs and explanations have been provided.
A ‘directors special’ is when you drill down the guts of something already understanding the geometry of the deposit … to exaggerate reporting of true width potential (not the case here).
