At 51% they will be ‘majority shareholder’ and effectively control the board and company directions, with other shareholders ‘minority shareholders’ and company will continue to be listed on ASX etc.
At over 90% they can choose to compulsorily acquire (for $’s ) all the shares of minority holders in which case the company will be wholly ‘taken over’ and will be delisted from ASX.
Note that this is different to takeovers using a SOA , where if it is agreed to at Scheme Meeting ( the 2 conditions satisfied), 100% of all shares go to the takeover proponent
