How significant for Viraleze is WHO removing rec on Lagevrio and Veklury

Following on Europe EMA removing market authorisation on Lagevrio in Feb 2023, adverse press reports mid year about dangers of Lagevrio RNA manipulation and poor efficacy results cf placebo, FDA is also removing govt distribution of Lagevrio from November so it starts to have problems as the alternative to Paxlovid. https://hotcopper.com.au/data/attachments/5734/5734257-7e7c4e3fc311191ca69c7f05e4e50002.jpg

In Europe there are a range of av nasal sprays but the US has less available.
Then last week the final nail in Lagevrio coffin plus a similar action on Veklury which is injectable Antiviral available in the Community in extreme circumstances as it is normally an early Hospital treatment.

How long can Australia’s TGA / ATAGI notifications say Antiviral drugs for covid treatment are Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir and ritonavir) Lagevrio (molnupiravir) and Veklury injection (remdesivir) when WHO is changing recommendations to just Paxlovid ?

WHO FROM FIRST WEEK NOVEMBER 2023 after BMJ analysus
Antiviral drugs for covid treatment REC by WHO Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir and ritonavir) AND not REC by WHO Lagevrio (molnupiravir) and Veklury injection (remdesivir)

Paxlovid is not an automatic script or simple drug for GPs to prescribe with a long list of contraindicated medications and very expensive PBS controlled medicine from the national stockpile - going to over $2000 per 5 days course in the new year.
Lagevrio has been the go to script not just for GPs if the patient uses say statins, but the factsheet on Lagevrio reveals that it alone has been prescribable by nurse practitioners as well as doctors and the massive purchase of about $122m courses into national stockpile has been transferred for treatment and prevention in our Aged Care homes to avoid waste before used by dates expire - read the factsheet..

So our Health Minister and ATAGI who tend to follow WHO advice have a problem. Just Paxlovid av treatment is a suitable treatment for covid in the Community with the 8th wave arriving … but Paxlovid has a large numbers of vulnerable people unable to take it and for him OTT is dangerous. The govt urgently needs an alternative - Veklury injectable av is also not recommended by WHO. See the ATAGI formal treatment list, see the Prof Jane Halton report

Australia needs another Antiviral treatment to prescribe or even suggest covid sufferers buy OTC pharmacy?

MAYBE the stars are aligned for Starpharma at last
7 Dec 23 TGA Delegate report will be presented to ACMD when it sits to consider
*. Astodrimer sodium nasal spray for common cold (aka product name Viraleze with UK Packaging at Viraleze.co.Uk not making covid claims and common cold definitely a virus including a % coronavirus)

ALSO in Q2 FY2024 ie before 31 Dec 2033 but likely at AGM 29 Nov 2023
    * Trial results of Viraleze placebo controlled UK NHS Hosp study of 7 day covid community treatment - its expected any day which would allow TGA with a human trial of a medical device - TGA would not to lose face about the ban/fine in 2021 under Morrison

These solutions to Australia’s ANTIVIRAL problem are ready to go…

Expensive Paxlovid remains on PBS but govt can allow smaller national stockpile when cost goes to $2000+.
As alternate Viraleze approved on medical device scheduling 7 Dec 23 meeting PLUS entered in PBS list so that doctors can prescribe as covid treatment when someone doesn’t qualify for Paxlovid. Ie younger people too - 12 years and up

Plus govt saves massive amounts of money $15 for 7 day covid treatment cf $2000 with All the nasty side effects of metallic mouth and basically dealing with a virus which has become systemic

THERE WILL BE MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AND WHY - the negative Neils in this list will be out in force but can anyone improve on this scenario? Is there any other av product ready to go - Heparin is following a little too late although Pfizer may be preparing production facilities to compete with our little Aussie and contract with the group of Melbourne doctors .

….we live in very interesting times…
