It's a bit like standing on the street corner & asking all the pretty girls walking by if they would like to have dinner with you - 1 in a 100 might say yes (your hopes rise!). You might also get 99 black eyes
ESR is like that - seek 100 deals & 1 may (I stress MAY) just come off - (a bit like the 1 in 100 girl saying yes) & the SP rises in anticipation
I reckon we have had our share of black eyes already so now maybe the time has come
